JAMMU, Dec 25: Asking the educationists to think of bringing a suitable change in the present-day education system to ensure holistic child development, Sr Vice President JKPCC & Former Minister Congress, Sham Lal Sharma said it seems that young buds who are overburdened by curricular activities are gradually losing their childhood.
Former Minister was addressing the Annual Day function of Bishno High School Jad, Akhnoor.
Stating that over-all development of child is the need of the hour, Sharma said that we have to create conducive atmosphere, which ensures academic as well as extra-curricular excellence among the students. “We have to strike a balance in a way that curricular and extra-curricular activities go hand-in-hand and young children enjoy their childhood while studying”, he added.
He asked teachers that while nurturing the students to achieve new highs in science, technology and modern studies, equal attention is paid to outdoor activities like sports, travel, etc which enables physical and mental development of the child.
While addressing the function Former Minister said that parental engagement in a child’s life in participation with the school and their teachers is essential for growth and development of students as confident, moral and socially aware adults.
“Parents and teachers partnership plays a crucial role in shaping the future of students into a well mannered and responsible citizen which needs to be strengthened at all levels” he added.
Later, Sham Sharma along with Principal Madan Choudhary distributed prizes among the students excelling in academic as well as extracurricular activities.
The students presented their talents with a variety of programmes ranging from exhibition of dance, song to drama.
