JAMMU, May 16: Harshdev Singh chairman JKNPP and former Minister has accused the BJP of maintaining silence on the moves of its coalition partner to the utter disgust of the nationalist forces across the country.
Addressing public meetings at Balpur, Nikk, Jansal and Thalora in Ramnagar constituency today, NPP leader said that proposal of J&K Rajya Sainik Board for creation of two colonies one in Srinagar and another in Budgam was approved in 2012 at the highest level with process of land identification also having been initiated. He said it was highly disconcerting to note that the proposal was being shelved in the BJP partnered Govt in the State and BJP led Govt at the Centre not withstanding its solemn pledges during elections to promote the interests of ex-servicemen and the Armed Forces.
Harshdev said that by giving its overt and covert support to the Kashmir based parties on the issue of Sainik Colonies, the BJP had inflicted the biggest dent upon national honour and pride. Describing the statements of the representatives of State Govt on the subject as highly abominable and opprobrious, he said people of Jammu region and ex-servicemen in particular were seething with anger and would give the Saffron Party a befitting reply at the appropriate time. He regretted that not only on the issues of Sainik Colonies but on NIT, NEET, vacation of land from Army, service tax on Mata Vaishno Devi Helicopter services, Dogra certificate etc, the BJP had made successive surrenders only to keep their second fiddle role in the Govt intact and their ministerial berths secure.
Accusing the BJP of changing colours like chameleon, Mr Singh said that the present day BJP was certainly not the one for which people had voted. He said that by its politics of opportunism, the BJP had disfigured itself to the extent that its redemption was almost on impossibility.
Regarding local issues and problems faced by the people, Mr Singh called upon the concerned authorities to address the acute drinking water and power crises in the area. He called for early macadamization of Dhar – Kalmah road, Larey-Sumal road, Bharnara-Jansal road, Majalta link road, Paletar road, Manwal Market road for which the funds had remained unutilized for the last 18 months.
