JAMMU, June 19: On the third day of BJP’s country wide ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ against corruption and  mis-Governance of UPA rule hundreds of BJP activists were court arrested in two separate party programmes at Ramban and Nowshera today.
Demanding Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s resignation over 150 party workers from different parts of Ramban held a rally in the town and  courted arrest under the leadership of  BJP National Executive member Dr. Nirmal Singh.
While addressing the workers Dr. Nirmal Singh said that during the last 9 years of Congress rule at the Centre and five years of Congress/NC coalition here, Jammu and Kashmir has achieved the dubious distinction of being the most corrupt State in the country. Those who are in the power have given new orientation to the system of corruption as the contracts of Government works are allotted by concerned Ministers on the chits.
The party programmes of the ministers are organized by the BDOs and the contractors. The program organized in Ramsoo yesterday is an example in this regard, he said.
He said that the relief meant for earthquake victims of erstwhile Doda District is being given to Congress/NC workers and the actual sufferers are running from pillar to post to get their names registered. MGNREGA, the so called dream program of the Congress Government has emerged to be the great source of corruption where very strong nexus of ruling political leaders, the Government officials and Congress/NC workers exists. They are looting hard earned money of the tax payers, Dr. Singh added.
State Convener of Training Cell Rajeev Charak also addressed the rally.
At Nowshera a large number of BJP workers led by party vice president, Vibodh Gupta were court arrested.
The other BJP leaders who were arrested included BJYM state chief Ravinder Raina, Capt (retd) Ramesh Chander, Dr Ashok Sharma, Mahila Morcha president Neena Sharma etc. Earlier the Party activists held a procession in the town and raised anti UPA slogans.
Addressing the protestors, Vibodh Gupta said that the Congress led UPA has looted the nation and alleged that the corruption, nepotism and favoritism was on peak under UPA’s rule. This Government is even worst than Britishers, he added.
He said BJP will continue its fight against the corruption and anti people policies of scam tainted UPA.
