KATHUA, Mar 28: the BJP activists from border areas today staged a dharna in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office here against the failure of Government to pay the compensation of crops of the land falling on LoC to the farmers of border villages.
The dharna was led by BJP leader Ranjit Singh and among others it was also addressed by Prem Nath Dogra another local leader.
The protestors, who earlier assembled at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, took out a procession to the D C Office. They demanded their dues of land be cleared and LoC benefit be given in recruitments. They alleged that in recruitment in armed forces the candidates with less than 45 percent marks from Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts are not considered.
They also warned against setting up of Toll Plaza at Highway saying that the same be withdrawn immediately as already Toll Plaza exists at Lakhanpur and it will be another burden on the people.
