BJP appoints Core Committee, Election Committee members for JK UT

Party cancels Core Committee meet

JAMMU, Jan 8: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president, J P Nadda today constituted Pradesh Core Committee and Election Committee for J&K having 15 and 14 members respectively. Both Core Committee and Election Committee of the J&K UT will be headed by UT party president, Ravinder Raina while party national general secretary and incharge J&K and Ladakh UTs, Tarun Chug and co incharge J&K, Ashish Sood will be special invitees to both the Committees.
Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh who is also MP from Kathua, Udhampur and Doda Parliamentary constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma, MP from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency will be members in both Core Committee as well as Election Committee.
The other BJP leaders who were included in both the Committees included party national secretary, Dr Narinder Singh, Ashok Kaul general secretary (Org), Dr Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta former Deputy CMs of J&K, Sunil Sharma, Vivod Gupta and Dr Divinder Kumar Manyal, party general secretaries, Devender Kumar Rana, BJP State Executive Member and Ajay Bharti party spokesman.
Former State president, Sat Sharma has only been included in Core Committee of the UT. The other party men whose names were included in Core Committee included Sunil Sethi, chief spokesperson of the party, Shakti Singh Parihar, party vice president and Dr Darkshan Andrabi.
Former Minister, Priya Sethi, Sofi Yousf, ex MLC, Farida Khan, secretary and Mahila Morcha president, Sanjita Dogra have been included as members in Election Committee.
BJP Seh Prabhari for J&K Ashish Sood told Excelsior that Election Committee of the State selects the candidates for the local body elections and also gives opinion to Party leadership about the selection of probable candidates for Assembly elections.
He said there are two such Committees in the party one is Chinav Samiti and another is Chinav Sanchalan Samiti which monitors the elections and campaigning.
Meanwhile, BJP has cancelled the tomorrow’s joint Core Group meeting of UT and districts following the rapid spread of Omicron in the UT and other parts of the country and in view of the ban on gathering of 25 percent of the capacity of the Hall by the Government.
