BJP asks Govt to protect heritage school of Sonawar

SRINAGAR, Apr 11: Ashok Bhat, district president, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), district Srinagar took an intensive tour of Sonawar area of Srinagar.
During his tour he interacted with people of different walks of life and heard their problems. The people put forth a number of grievances before the visiting BJP leader for redressal. Ashok Bhat after hearing to the aggrieved people took up their issues with concerned officers.
Some of the issues were resolved on spot. He assured the public that the remaining issues which remained unresolved will be taken by him with appropriate authorities for early resolution.
A major issue put forth collectively by the residents of Sonawar was that Government has ordered shifting DIET institute to Sonwar Boys High School. They pleaded that this is an old and heritage school of the area and instead of upgrading it as Higher Secondary School it is being closed much to the shock to the public of the area. They stated they have already demonstrated against the Government move and expressed their desire it should continue as school with upgraded status.
Ashok Bhat assured them that he will take up the matter with the concerned authorities and appealed the Lieutenant Governor administration that before taking any move of shifting DIET to this school the aspirations of the people of the locality be taken care of.
