JAMMU, Dec 2: BJP State president, Shamsher Singh Manhas assured the Panchs and Sarpanchs to raise their voice in the Upper House and fight for their rights firmly, if BJP candidates were voted in election.
Talking to the reporters here along with Party candidates, Rashpal Verma and Uttam Singh, BJP general secretary, Sat Sharma and Party spokesperson, Dr Nirmal Kamal, Manhas expressed apprehensions that ruling coalition may use dubious ways to outwit the opposition, as it was afraid of the overwhelming response, which BJP candidates for MLC polls were getting during election campaign.
He alleged that the Government is violating the Model Code of Conduct by giving allurements to Panchs and Sarpanchs.
“If the Government refused to bring 73rd and 74th Amendments to the Panchayati Raj Act claiming that State’s Act is superior, then why it has not so far implemented the clauses beneficial for Panchayat members,” he asked.
He claimed BJP is the only party concerned for the welfare of the rural masses, as it firmly believes in strengthening the democracy through a powerful Panchayat system.
