JAMMU, July 24: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that BJP bartered the honour and dignity of Dogras for few loaves of power and ditched its own electors.
Bhalla slammed BJP Government for challenging pride of Dogras to keep their irrelevant dispensation relevant and to relish the loaves of power. Hunger for power has taken toll of the opportunistic Government, which is overtly and covertly working towards weakening the very idea of J&K, he said while interacting with aggrieved persons of Bahu Fort in Masha Mohalla, Kachha Talab.
On Domicile certificates, Bhalla said the BJP had unleashed a provocative propaganda, ignoring the historic significance of this provision and the circumstances that had led the Maharaja to enact Permanent Residence Act for safeguarding the interests of the people, irrespective of caste, creed, colour or region.
“The BJP has completely failed in its sinister mission of inciting and swaying the people of Jammu, who realize the crucial importance of this legislation for their honorable survival”, he maintained. Bhalla said that while the insensitive BJP has failed in assuaging urges and aspirations of the people on political front, its record in governance is quite dismal.
J&K is virtually witnessing mis-governance with Government nowhere to be seen on ground”, he said, adding that if all there is any visibility BJP anywhere in J&K, it is for all the wrong reasons of exploiting people and inciting them to fight each other.
Bhalla said that disillusionment of people with the BJP Government is growing, as governance is at the lowest depth and development has taken nose dive in the past over six years. “People are realizing the futility of electing a Government that is not only insensitive towards their problems but also responsible in adding to these on every front”, he said.
“The people of Jammu displayed faith in BJP while giving them huge mandate from Jammu region with the hope that their grievances will be taken note of and discrimination with Jammu will end. However, BJP after forming Government sidelined issues related to Jammu,” Bhalla said.
