BJP befooling people during DDC elections: Sawhney

JAMMU, Dec 2: Former minister and PCC general secretary Yogesh Sawhney today condemned the BJP leadership in J&K for misleading the people ahead of DDC elections.
“As more names of senior leaders emerge in the Roshni scam, BJP is trying to use the issue for gaining political benefits in the DDC polls. Through baseless and malevolent attacks on Congress about land grabbing, corruption and nepotism in politics, BJP is using the exposé as a weapon to garner public attention. On the other hand, the involvement of many senior BJP leaders in land grabbing and corruption cases on various accounts have been exposed and yet they remain silent on that,” he said.
Accusing the BJP of playing dirty politics and communalising the issue, Sawhney said that people in Jammu also are deprived of their thousands of kanals of lands, for which BJP leaders are blaming a specific single community. They are mindlessly reiterating that Jammu’s demography has been changed and endangered. However, the community they are isolating, attacking and wrangling on about only holds 1180 kanals of land. The rest of the 42,000 kanals of land out of the 44000 kanals regularised under the Roshni Scheme in Jammu is not captured or encroached by that specific community but by others. Why are they not talking about who is involved in that? Further, 11,000 canals of land have also been encroached under the Roshni Scheme in Kathua by depriving people of J&K their lands.
They’re unnecessarily communalising an issue for political gain which requires to be resolved through undisturbed and stringent legal intervention. He said that they are misleading the people into believing that a demographic invasion is the cause of this. They are also constantly bickering about the Rohingya issue. But, since BJP is in power at the Centre, it can take any measures to resolve the matter. It rather plays politics in the name of this community, Sawhney added.
Reacting to BJP’s comments to defame Congress, he said that the leaders who had started their political journeys with the Congress party itself and who later jumped to the BJP ship, are now attempting to dupe the people of J&K. These leaders should first have a look their own face in the mirror.
Attacking BJP, he said that those pointing fingers are themselves involved in land grabbing and corruption scams. Their leaders have been caught for land encroachments and illegal occupation on Army land for building private structures.
