BJP betrayed Ladakh: Jora

JAMMU, Apr 11: Congress Legislature Party leader, Nawang Rigzin Jora today accused BJP of wholesale betrayal of Ladakh and demanded that his political rival in Leh Chering Dorje should be elevated as Cabinet Minister in order to provide justice to the region.
“This is not about politics… it is about interest of Ladakh”, he said in a statement and asked what happened to the BJP’s slogan of equitable share of power and development to all the three regions of the State.
“If Dorje is MLC so is Nayeem Akhtar. But the latter has been inducted as Cabinet Minister but Chering Dorje has only been given MoS status”, the CLP leader regretted while making it clear that Ladakh’s interest has compelled him to raise the issue.
“BJP must not forget that Ladakh has given them the all important MP seat”, he said, adding “all important decisions concerning development and administrative matters are taken in the Cabinet  and to deprive Ladakh a voice in the Cabinet is the worst form of insult, humiliation and deprivation that BJP can heap on Ladakh”.
“The sooner BJP realize this the better it would be for its own interest but more importantly the interest of Ladakh and the larger national interest in a sensitive border area”, Jora further said, adding “ignorance of both the districts of Ladakh in Cabinet reflects the anti-Ladakh attitude of the present dispensation”.
