JAMMU, Feb 3: Launching attack on the NDA Government for not announcing farm loan waiver, former Minister and senior Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma today alleged that since it had not offered anything to the people in its previous budgets, it has now made populist announcements to assuage prevailing dissent among the public and the farmer community.
While addressing public meeting at Panchayat Nardi Wala, in block Maira Mandrian in Akhnoor today, Sham said that the recent budget presented by the NDA Govt is nothing but a ‘Jumla budget’. During the past years, the Govt hasn’t done anything for farmers and their condition had become bad to worst. Now, the Govt all of sudden woke up just before the general elections to give certain sops to farmers which is too little, too late.
Sham Lal termed the budget disappointing and anti-farmer. He said that the Government had made a joke with farmers. The farmers will now give a befitting reply to the BJP Govt in coming elections. He accused the NDA Government for offering cash dole of Rs 6,000 per year per farmer to hide its failure in “doubling the income of farmers as claimed”.
The Congress leader said that the unemployment is all time high and even broken the record of last 45 years. He alleged that Modi Govt miserably failed to generate jobs for the youth.
“Jumlebazi can not change the destiny of the country and end long standing problems like poverty, unemployment and inflation. It needs a firmness to resolve them,” Sharma said.
Sham further said that this Government was crying from roof tops about the granting of Smart cities status to some cities across the country including Jammu and Srinagar, but it is surprising that nothing has been done in this regard in their regime nor any mention regarding the same has been made in this budget which is the biggest joke with the people of the State.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and former Minister Manohar Lal Sharma described the BJP’s budget as anti-poor, anti-youth and anti-farmer.
In press statement, Manohar Lal termed the Budget 2019-20 as ‘exercise in rhetoric ‘done in view of coming general elections. He alleged that this budget has nothing for the educated unemployed youth of the country while farmers have been just befooled with just peanut amount offered as support. He said the interim budget reflects only political motive behind and no public welfare. There is no relief for the workers of the unorganized sector in the Budget, he added.
Former Minister and senior Congress leader from Suchetgarh Ch Gharu Ram has also termed the NDA Govt’s interim budget as anti-farmer and anti-youth. He alleged that this budget of the Modi Govt is politically motivated, having eyes just on coming Lok Sabha elections and cover up the failures of the BJP in the country.
