JAMMU, Dec 1: BJP candidates for MLCs elections from Jammu region, Col. (retd) Uttam Singh and Rashpal Verma, today toured Ghatti, Barhwal, Sahar, Logate, Janglot, Badala, Drala and Mirpur Panchayats in Kathua and Hiranagar areas to garner support of the voters and apprise them of the ongoing fallacious campaigning of the coalition candidates.
To seek the support, of voters they also apprised them about dubious intentions of the coalition leaders. They asked the Panchs and Sarpanchs to ponder over the question that why the Government did not fulfill the commitments of implementing the clauses of J&K Panchayati Raj Act to empower Panchs and Sarpanchs with provisions of honorarium and security.
They said the leaders of NC and Congress have belied the commitments made earlier, despite the fact that there were directions from national general secretary of Congress Rahul Gandhi when he invited deputation of members of Association of Panchs and Sarpanchs to Delhi and also when few selective Panchs had met him at Srinagar. This confirms that even the Congress and NC bosses are not sincere in empowerment of the Panchayats, they added.
They said the motive of these leaders also is to flourish corruption and centralize the power to themselves against the spirit of democracy. Col. Uttam Singh and Rashpal Verma impressed upon the voters not to be influenced by the false commitments being made by the NC-Congress leaders and appealed them to vote in their favour for empowerment of Panchayats in the state.
National Executive Member Dr. Nirmal Singh while endorsing the view of both the candidates, lambasted the Cong-NC coalition for alluring the voters with false statements and also violating Model Code of Conduct.
BJP secretary Vivodh Gupta also held series of meetings in Rajouri and other areas today to seek vote for BJP candidates. He cautioned the Panchs and Sarpanchs against the anti people policies of the coalition, which has failed to empower Panchayats till date and were only making false promises in this regard.
BJP leader Vikram Randhawa also visited various localities in R S Pura and Bishnah to seek vote for BJP candidates.
