JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Aug 5: The 5th anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 was celebrated today with great enthusiasm by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its leaders and activists throughout Jammu and Kashmir.

To mark the occasion, senior BJP leader and former Minister Bali Bhagat, in a statement issued today praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the abrogation of Article 370, asserting that this bold move has integrated J&K more firmly with the rest of India, ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all its residents. He vehemently condemned the Congress party for observing the anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 as a Black Day. He accused Congress of depriving various communities in J&K of their due rights through the controversial Article 370.
Chief spokesperson J&K BJP Mahila Morcha, Ritika Trehan along with Mahila Morcha activists celebrated the occasion by organizing a function today. Speaking on the occasion, Ritika said abrogation of Article 370 has ended family rule in Kashmir besides stone-pelting and gun culture. She said that on this day, Jammu and Kashmir fully merged with the Union of India, which is worthy of celebration for the people. While speaking, she paid tribute to all the predecessors like Pt Prem Nath Dogra, Thakur Baldev Singh and others and recollected their memories who contributed in the historic struggle against the draconian Articles 370 and 35(A).
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Jammu North celebrated the occasion under the leadership of its president, Rajat Singh Manhas. The team marked the occasion with enthusiasm and joy by distributing “halwa” to the residents of Paloura. Rajat Singh Manhas, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the transformative impact of the abrogation on the region. He stated that the changes over the past five years symbolize progress, peace, and prosperity. “This is truly a ‘Badalta J&K’ where development is reaching every corner and the people are experiencing the true benefits of integration with the rest of the nation,” he asserted.
In Srinagar, several BJP activists led by the Party spokesperson Altaf Thakur held a celebratory event at party headquarters in Jawahar Nagar wherein the decision of August 5, 2019 was hailed. The party activists on the occasion chanted slogans, saying the decision ensured absolute merger of J&K into the Union of India. They said the courageous decision of the PM Modi led Government in 2019 put an end to terrorism in the region and paved the way for a peaceful atmosphere in J&K.
