BJP celebrates Vajpayee’s 100th B’day as Good Governance Day

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Dec 25: J&K BJP celebrated Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 100th birth anniversary as Good Governance Day (Sushasan Diwas) and paid floral tribute to the veteran leader at various places across J&K. The programmes were organized at the ward and the booth level around the region.
Sat Sharma (J&K BJP president) accompanied by MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Deputy CM Dr Nirmal Singh, former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, MLA Yudhvir Sethi, MLA Vikram Randhawa, former Minister Priya Sethi, senior leader Rajeev Charak, spokesperson Purnima Sharma and other senior leaders paid floral tribute to the statue of Vajpayee at Atal Chowk, Panjtirthi, Jammu.
While paying tribute to Atal, Sat Sharma said that Vajpayee dedicated his whole life to ‘Matru Bhumi’. He praised Atal for his commitment to strengthening the nation and mentioned the ‘Pokhran nuclear tests’. He said that due to his exemplary governance, this day is also known as ‘Good Governance Day’. He asked that we all should take lessons from his life works.

Jugal Kishore Sharma said that Bharat Mata will always remember his services for the centuries to come. He said that Atal was a friend of everyone and tried to create friendly relations even with neighboring, nation Pakistan.
In BJP headquarters at Jammu, Sat Sharma accompanied by general secretary (organization) Ashok Koul and other senior leaders of the Party inaugurated an exhibition on life and works of Vajpayee. The Exhibition was organized by the Department of Publication led by Incharge Rajnish Jain and co-incharges Varinderjeet Singh and Pawan Sharma.
At Talab Tillo in Jammu, Sat Sharma along with Ayodhya Gupta, Sanjay Baru and other local leaders of the party paid floral tribute to the former Prime Minister.
In Kashmir Valley, a function was held at BJP headquarters situated at Jawahar Nagar to pay glowing tribute to Vajpayee, one of the founding leaders of the BJP.
Party spokesperson Altaf Thakur, while speaking to media persons, said that Vajpayee’s dedication laid the foundation for the BJP’s growth into the largest political party in the country. “He (Vajpayee) worked tirelessly for the party, which today stands as the largest in the country and the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has carried forward his vision, ensuring service to the people,” Thakur said.
Several other BJP leaders highlighted Vajpayee’s contributions to India’s development, including his visionary initiatives such as the Golden Quadrilateral project, advancements in information technology, and efforts to strengthen India’s global standing. They also reflected on his transformative leadership and its enduring impact on the country.
As part of the celebrations, the BJP Kashmir unit announced a series of initiatives, including outreach programs to engage with citizens, workshops on effective governance practices, and campaigns to raise awareness about Government schemes and services.
Meanwhile, Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha also organized a function in Jammu to pay tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary. While paying tribute, leaders of the Sabha spoke on the significant contributions of Vajpayee to India.
