JAMMU, Nov 9: BJP Village Defence Guards (VDGs) Cell led by its chairman, Basant Raj Thakur a senior party leader today held a strong protest against the Pak sponsored terrorism and killing of two VDGs in Kontwara area of Kishtwar district by terrorists.
With placards in their hands, the protestors raised slogans against the Pak sponsored terrorism and warned that their designs will not be allowed to succeed.
Talking to media persons, Basant Raj Thakur said that they paid glowing tribute to the two VDGs who attained martyrdom. He said the protest was held actually to pay tribute to these brave martyrs. He said terrorists can never succeed in demoralising the patriotic forces in J&K. But such acts will further strengthen the nationalist forces who will unmask the evil designs of Pakistan and its underground and over-ground agents in J&K.
Thakur said that Pakistan and its agents in J&K are baffled after August 5 – 2019 as the Modi Government and Home Minister, Amit Shah’s proactive policies have broken the back of terrorists in J&K and total peace prevailed in the UT since then.
He said unfortunately with the taking over of the new Government in the UT after recent elections there was a sudden spurt in the terrorist activities as it seemed that the terrorists who were in hibernation have become emboldened. Thakur said that the Government was elected for welfare of the people but they are trying to dig the dead from graveyards which is unfortunate.
He accused the NC which is ruling J&K at present for destroying Kashmir during last over 70 years with their policies. He said this was the root cause that the minorities and nationalist people were forced to leave the Kashmir.
Thakur said it was the Modi Government that VDCs were converted into VDGs and their honorarium was increased last year while previous governments totally ignored them.
He however demanded in view of prevailing situation the honorarium of VDGs be further enhanced and they be issued automatic weapons, besides given full arms training to take on terrorism and foil the designs of terrorists.
