JAMMU, Apr 7: Bharatiya Janata Party has said that it is seriously concerned about all the burning local issues and is committed for their early resolution.
Sunil RP Sethi, Chief Spokesperson of the Party, while addressing the press conference said that BJP supports the issues raised by the advocates and certain members of the civil society except the Rassana issue since it is subjudice.
Sethi said that BJP was the first political party to raise the issue of Rohangiyas because it is convinced that they pose a security threat and are prone to exploitation by the anti-national elements and inimical forces due to the sensitive location of Jammu. He explained that they were brought here by the NC-Congress Government and settled here with specific motives. As per Passport Act, any foreigner entering the State without a valid passport and visa is liable to be jailed and to be deported. Despite Article 370 in vogue, neither these people were jailed nor deported but instead provided documents for their settlement that shows the deep involvement of the then Government.
He deplored those who are trying to communalise the issue and said that it was a matter of security and has nothing to do with the religion of the Rohangiyas. He said it is surprising that no voice ever is raised by Abdullahs, Mir, Soz, Tarigami or other Kashmiri leaders for their deportation?
As regards District status for Nowshera, Sethi said that the agitation has already been called off. Sethi also reiterated the party stand that a Commission for reorganisation of Districts will be appointed to meet aspirations of people of other districts as well.
Since, the Rassana issue is subjudice, Sethi said that no intervention at this stage is warranted except legal remedies. He, however, expressed concern that one of the members of SIT namely Irfan Wani, Incharge Kahara Police Post was arrested in 2007 for murder of a boy and alleged rape of a girl during illegal custody. How can person of such a character be associated with the present investigation and is likely to raise doubts on the fairness of the investigation?
As far as the issue pertaining to tribal policy, Sethi clarified that no Government orders on the subject have been issued. The minutes of the meeting, which is not an official order, were issued with a mischievous intention to which BJP reacted immediately. In order to remove all the apprehensions in the mind of the people CM has been asked to withdraw or cancel the said minutes, Sethi added.
Sethi appealed to the protesting advocates to call off their strike and return to their work so that time is given to the Government to resolve these issues. He committed full support of Bharatiya Janata Party.
Brig Anil Gupta, Arun Gupta and SS Bijral, all spokespersons of the party were also present during the press conference.
