JAMMU, Sept 19: Senior BJP leader and Jammu North candidate, Sham Lal Sharma, reiterated the party’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of Jammu and restoring the region’s rich Dogra culture and traditions.
Addressing election meetings in Jammu North, Sharma emphasized that the party is dedicated to reviving Jammu’s dignity, which he said had been overlooked for years due to Kashmir-centric politics.
He assured voters that the BJP would work to restore Jammu’s “pristine glory” through holistic development.
Sharma criticized previous governments for neglecting Jammu in areas like infrastructure, tourism, and employment while prioritizing the Kashmir valley.
He highlighted that the region had long faced a lack of resources and opportunities, leading to frustration among the people, especially the youth.
Sharma vowed that under BJP’s leadership, this neglect would end, and Jammu would receive fair treatment in all sectors.
He called on voters to reject Congress, NC, and PDP, accusing them of causing damage to Jammu and Kashmir through their “anti-national policies.”
He urged support for the BJP in the current elections, asserting that only the BJP can lead Jammu and Kashmir towards a stronger, peaceful, and prosperous future.
In a significant political development, Devi Singh, a former Congress candidate from Lower Thattar, joined the BJP along with his supporters.
The switch is seen as a major setback for Congress and a reflection of the growing support for BJP’s vision.
Welcoming Singh and his team, Sharma reaffirmed the party’s resolve to protect Jammu’s cultural heritage.
Other prominent leaders, including Suresh Khajuria, Sukhdev Singh, and Kuldeep Singh, also addressed the gatherings, emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to equitable development across the region.
