‘Cong, others playing dirty politics over CAA’

JAMMU, Jan 5; Former Dy. Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Dr Nirmal Singh today accused Congress and other opposition parties of playing dirty politics and spreading lies about Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to mislead the people.
While addressing the meeting of BJP workers including Panchs, Sarpanchs, Block Chairmen, Mandal Committee members of Billlawar Constituency here, today, Dr Nirmal Singh said that the Bill is in national interest. “In Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan there were religious oppression due to which people took refugee in India and now the Bill will give them citizenship”, he added.
The meeting was also addressed by BJP State president, Ravinder Rina.
Taking a dig on Congress and other opposition parties and accusing them of creating a communal divide in the country, Dr Nirmal Singh accused them of spreading rumors for petty politics. “Muslims of India and J&K don’t need to worry at all as CAA will not apply to the Muslims of the country and J&K”, he added.
Dr Nirmal Singh said that the Citizenship Amendment Bill has the endorsement of 130 crore citizens of the country as it was the part of the BJP manifesto in 2014 as well as 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
He said that the Bill was required to give protection to people who are forced to live in pathetic human condition.
He further said that India is a land of unity in diversity and tolerance. Recent decisions like Ram Mandir, Article 370, Triple Talaq and now CAA showed firm commitment towards national security, and he appealed to the people to maintain peace and communal harmony.
While giving assurance on the issue of domicile, job and land security, Dr Singh said that BJP is committed for protecting the rights of people of Jammu and for over all development of Jammu region and in this regard delegation of BJP leaders already called on the central leadership and apprised them about the core issues of the Jammu and got assurance from them that all the rights of the people will be protected.
Singh also condemned the attack on Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan’s Punjab province and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take all the necessary steps to ensure peace and security of the Sikhs.
Ravinder Raina while addressing the meeting accused Congress of trying to divide people on communal lines for its political interests. He said that Congress and its allies will not succeed in their vicious designs as countrymen are solidly behind Narendra Modi and BJP.
Raina asked Congress and other opposition parties to refrain from misleading the people as they exploited the nation for last 72 years for hollow slogans of secularism to remain in power.
