JAMMU, Mar 19: Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan today said that the party is firm on its commitment to protecting the constitutional rights of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), and it will not allow any tinkering with the reservation policy for SCs and STs as enshrined in the Constitution.
The BJP leader said this while discussing the constitutional rights of the SC and ST communities, with a group of party leaders including BJP SC Morcha vice president Vijay Anand Gill, Morcha office secretary Hans Raj Loria, secretary Girdhari Lal Dogra, Waryam Singh, Sardeesh Rana and Rishu Langeh.
Balbir emphasized that BJP has always been a strong advocate for social justice and empowerment. “The reservation provided to SCs and STs is a constitutional safeguard meant to ensure their socio-economic upliftment and any attempt to dilute or alter this provision will be firmly opposed by our party,” he said.
He also charged Kashmir-based political parties of attempting to create divisions along regional and caste lines for their political gains. “These parties have a history of playing divisive politics. Their aim is to create a wedge between communities and regions to serve their own vested interests. BJP, on the other hand, stands for unity, equality, and the holistic development of all communities,” Balbir asserted.
Reaffirming BJP’s stance on reservation in promotions, Balbir said that the Party has been consistently demanding the restoration of this policy. He further stated that the party has always worked towards ensuring that marginalized communities receive their due rights and benefits without discrimination.
Balbir assured that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government is committed to the welfare of SCs and STs through various initiatives aimed at their education, employment and social upliftment. He urged people of these communities to stay vigilant against political parties that mislead them for electoral gains.
