Khatana made these remarks during the inauguration of the election office in Srinagar. Simultaneous inaugurations were also conducted at Baramulla in North Kashmir and Anantnag district in South Kashmir, strategically reaching out to voters in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Khatana expressed optimism about the eagerness of Jammu and Kashmir residents to actively participate in the electoral process. “Election season has begun, and the residents of the Valley will participate in the elections in a big way. BJP will win all the five Parliamentary seats in Jammu and Kashmir, and we are hopeful that the people of Kashmir will give BJP a chance to serve them,” he said.
Responding to a question regarding recent comments made by Congress President M Kharage, who expressed concerns about potential risks to democracy if the BJP comes to power again, Khatana asserted that Congress’s fears were unfounded. “If Congress thinks to repeat coal and Commonwealth Games scams, they are dreaming, as BJP would not let it happen,” he said, adding that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country is on track to become the third-largest economy.
At a separate event in Anantnag district, the General Secretary of the BJP Ashok Koul echoed Khatana’s sentiments, emphasizing the party’s determination to contest on all six seats, including Ladakh. He highlighted the positive transformation in the region since 2019, noting the absence of issues like stone pelting, shutdowns and strike calendars.
Taking a dig at political alliances, he dismissed them as mere photo ops. “The Gupkar alliance, which was formed here after the 370 abrogation, is nowhere these days. The INDI Alliance continues to remain a photo opportunity and nothing else,” he said.
