BJP confined to slogans, advertising, rhetoric: Bhalla

JAMMU, Sept 3: Former minister and senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla today said that Central Government was not justifying its own promises made to the people of this country after they came to power.
“The prices basic commodities such as potato, onion, milk, diesel, petrol and LPG, which directly affect all classes of society, have been increased. In a blow to middle-class, the price of subsidised cylinder has been hiked by Rs 7 on Friday. This is the fourth rise in prices of LPG since May this year. The price of aviation turbine fuel has also witnessed a steep hike of 4%. Also, price of kerosene sold through Public Distribution System (PDS) was hiked by about 25 paise per liter,” Bhalla said while addressing public gathering at Kacha Talab, Bahu Fort today.
Bhalla further said that BJP has cheated and played with the sentiments of the people and failed to deliver the promises it made. Instead of controlling the price rise, rates of essential commodities have increased. He slammed BJP Government for the recent hike in petroleum products, which in turn will lead to a further hike in prices of essential commodities.
He said that Prime Minister and Finance Minister had claimed that the prices would come down in the country after demonetization. However, the prices were going up alarmingly. He blamed the Government for its failures to keep the prices under control. Congress leader slammed the Government over demonetisation and asked BJP to stop spreading false propaganda, after the GDP of the country plunged to a three-year low.
Bhalla termed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s assertion of finding solution to the Kashmir issue by 2022 an attempt to “divert attention” from alleged failure of the Government on Kashmir front. In the backdrop of the overall environment, the hallow assertions based on pledge to solve the Kashmir problem by 2022 do not appear to be more than prophesies or guesswork. The overall situation in Kashmir on all fronts deteriorated during three years of the NDA regime at the Centre and the coalition Government the State, so the mere statements would not solve the Kashmir problem,” Bhalla said.
Slamming the BJP for celebrating completion of three years of NDA Government by organising ‘Modi Fest’ and ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’, Bhalla said there is nothing to rejoice about the failures of Modi regime on all fronts. Dubbing demonetisation as a “serious blunder”, he said it wiped out livelihood of millions, while nine months after the drive, the BJP Government cannot tell how much black money was found and how much fake currency detected.
