Srinagar, Dec 29: Senior BJP leader and the party’s J&K spokesman, Altaf Thakur, today criticized the Omar Abdullah-led Government for what he termed a slow response to the ongoing “crisis” caused by snowfall in Kashmir.
Thakur accused the Government of failing to clear link roads promptly and fully restore essential services, including power and water, leaving residents to “suffer” in freezing conditions.
He stated that while main roads were being prioritized, interior and rural link roads, as well as those in Srinagar, remained buried under heavy snow, cutting off vital access for many communities.
“The Government has shown complete disregard for the plight of common people, who are left stranded without proper connectivity,” he said in a statement issued here.
Highlighting “power outages and disrupted” water supplies across Kashmir, Thakur described the Government’s efforts as inadequate.
“People are shivering in darkness in many areas and struggling to secure basic necessities like water, yet the administration has not acted decisively to address these issues,” he said.
Thakur urged the Government to ramp up snow-clearing operations and expedite the restoration of essential services.
He also called for greater accountability, stating, “residents deserve better preparedness and responsiveness from the Government in times of crisis.”
