JAMMU, June 30: Former Minister and senior leader of National Conference (NC) Ajay Sadhotra today said that BJP has deceived people living along International Border and Line of Control (LoC) under the garb of giving reservation to about 4 lakh people living along IB by getting a bill passed in this connection.
Sadhotra said 5.5. lakh people living along LoC were enjoying 3% reservation quota in Government employment and educational institutions earlier. Now, after the passing of recent bill, this 3% reservation is to be shared with 4 lakh IB people. This 3% reservation is an extension of reservation granted to LoC dwellers. In nutshell, the border people of LoC and IB have been deceived. IB and LoC shall get 1.5% reservation each. BJP had thus deceived them, he added.
The former Minister said that BJP has taken Jammu people for granted which is biggest heart burning issue among the border residents and the people of Jammu. Such acts of BJP are creating alienation among common Jammuites, who have understood the evil designs of BJP to befool them.
Sadhotra said the brave IB and LoC dwellers are feeling deprived. He demanded that International Border (IB) people should be given separate reservation of 3% without touching 3% reservation of LoC people. “We must salute border dwellers as they are brave people and face lot of problems and difficult situations and instead of giving them sense of belonging and gratitude, BJP is undermining and playing with their sacrifices,” he added.
The senior NC leader has appealed all the parties in Rajya Sabha to get the bill amended and ensure that LoC reservation is not touched and IB people get additional 3% reservation. He also appealed the Union Government to rise to the occasion keeping in view the problems of the IB and LoC people and give 3% reservation to IB people by amending the bill.
