KATHUA, Apr 1: Contin-uing enthusiastic election campaign, former MLC Subash Gupta held meeting at Hiranagar and targeted BJP for just delivering sermons while in power. A large number of Panchs, Sarpanchs, party delegates, and dedicated workers of party participated in the meeting.
Addressing public meeting he criticized BJP Government for neglecting people, saying that it failed to do anything for the welfare and development of the people of this area during their tenure. Nothing was done about the unemployment and developmental issue like road infrastructure, power supply, employment, border issues, hardships of farmers, and acute shortage of water and health infrastructure.
“The BJP is thinking that it will get votes, but people understand that as in the past they had deceived and befooled the common people, youth, and farmers, they are doing same again,” he said.
He said that BJP Government failed to provide any relief to the affected people with the firing across the border and along LoC. He said BJP only created lot of controversies and hatred between different regions and sections of the State, in view of their contradictory and narrow politics. He said that at the time of forming coalition BJP had claimed that this coalition would bring the regions closure and bring about massive financial support from the Centre but it has miserably failed on both these fronts as a result people of three regions are suffering.
Subash Gupta said that the people of India, especially the poor and the underprivileged, look upon Congress with great expectations and Congress president, Rahul Gandhi had proved it in the recent elections held in the Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chattisgarh.
Asking party men especially the youth, to work unitedly for the victory of Congress party candidate, Vikramaditya Singh, Gupta said that the youth have to play a vital role to defeat the politics of exploitation and falsehood.
Appealing party activists to vote heavily in support of Vikramaditya Singh, he claimed that Congress alone can ensure equitable development of all three regions with special attention towards the neglected, remote, and backward areas of the State.
Ex-MLA Prem Lal, Yugal Bali, Anant Kumar Dogra, Sarpanch Vinay Sharma, Seemant Sharma and many others also spoke on the occasion.
