BJP denies sending reports to discuss Kashmir issue with Geelani

NEW DELHI :  The BJP today dismissed news reports claiming that its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had dispatched two Kashmiri Pundits to Hurriyat leader Ali Shah Geelani amd said these reports were based on the statement of Mr Geelani himself.
Denying categorically reports, the BJP in a statement said these were mischievous reports, without basis and are aimed at creating confusion among people. “Mr Geelani’s statements are nothing but a bunch of lies with malicious intent.     He had claimed that two Kashmiri Pundits had met him on behalf of Mr Modi to solve Kashmir issue,” the statement said.       The statement added Kashmir is an integral part of India and there is no room for any deliberations on the issue. ‘The BJP has also time and again condemned the negative role played by leaders of Mr SAR Geelani’s ilk and their politics is a threat to the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.     Even if Mr Geelani has made these claims, the onus lies on him to present the complete picture and name the individuals who met him on behalf of Mr Modi. If he fails to do so, which we are sure he will, he should apologize to the people of India’, the party said.
The BJP also condemned the statements of self serving elected representatives from Kashmir holding important positions as they feared a crushing defeat in the ongoing polls.      Several party leaders including Deputy Leader of the BJP in Rajya Sabha denied Mr Modi or the BJP sending any representative to meet Mr Geelani.
Mr Geelani in Srinagar claimed that two Kashmiri Pundits sought to meet him on March 22 but he refused to meet them after coming to know of their RSS background.   (AGENCIES)
