KATHUA, June 11: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, today said that BJP and Deputy CM, Dr Nirmal Singh, are totally working against the interest of Billawar in every decision, dishonored the public mandate and deceived the people of Billawar.
He was addressing a public meeting in remote village Rajwalta of Ramkote tehsil of Billawar constituency, in which people from different sections of society including Sarpanchs and Panchs participated.
Dr Sharma said that Deputy CM and BJP are playing with the sentiments of the general public of Billawar constituency and breached the trust of common voters of Billawar by taking all decision against Billawar, particularly in the case of Additional Deputy Commissioner for Basholi instead of Billawar.
He said that Billawar has strong grounds for getting a complete District status, because Billawar is topographically centrally located and is having six Tehsils, eight Blocks and fifteen Niabats whearas Basholi is at one corner having two Tehsils, four Blocks and five Niabats only.
The former Minister said that Billoria Commission and Cabinet Sub-Committee has recommended Billawar for separate district but it is very unfortunate that BJP is deliberately ignoring Billawar keeping aside all norms and criteria even feasibility of area.
Dr Sharma said that they are not against Basohli but if the Government favours Basohli at the cost of Billawar, the Government will have to create separate districts for Billawar and Basohli.
He said that people of Billawar feel cheated by BJP, as its polices and all decisions taken during three years of its tenure indicate and reflect the real face of BJP whether it may be the funding or allocation of funds for social sector, education, health or rural sector.
