BJP fails to protect lives, properties of border residents: Sadhotra

JAMMU, Jan 22: BJP Governments at Centre and State have totally failed to protect the lives and properties of the border residents living along IB and LoC.
This was stated by Former Minister and senior leader National Conference Ajay Sadhotra while enquiry about the conditions of the border dwellers during his visit from Chakrali-Gajansoo to Lalyal Camp and Kanachack in Marh block.
Former Minister expressed dismay over the condition of the border people. “Border residents are still in the state of shock and the Government has left them at the mercy of God”, he added.
Sadhotra said people residing in border area lack basic facilities to be provided by Government. BJP Government has turned blind eye and Deaf ear to the problems of the border people, he said, adding that the BJP Government had promised to construct bunkers so that border people can take shelter during shelling and save their lives but no bunkers have been constructed till date.
NC leader demanded immediate relief camps at safer places, transport facilities for shifting to camps, ambulances with team of doctors for shifting victims of border shelling to GMC Jammu, team of veterinary doctors to look after the livestock, increase in ex-gratia to next of kin of the deceased to Rs 10 lakh and Rs 50,000 to injured persons with all medical facilities, provide fodder for livestock and 24 hours availability of doctors in GMC Jammu to treat the cross border firing victims.
Former Minister also visited GMC Jammu to enquire about the victims of Pak shelling in which two persons were injured and one got killed in Kanachack. He expressed sympathies with the aggrieved family.
