LEH, Dec 8: BJP came into power with promise of bringing “Acche Din” but despite a lapse of three years nothing has been changed, rather situation getting worst especially by introduction of Nation Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State there by forcing the people bear burden.
This was stated by District Congress Committee (DCC) president, Tsering Samphel while addressing a press conference. He was flanked by former LAHDC CEC, Rigzin Spalbar and Councilor Gurmet Dorjay.
He alleged that NFSA was introduced during Congress regime when Government of India had surplus food production to provide atta and rice @ 2Kg rice but unfortunately when BJP came into power in State, NFSA was implemented and due to fund shortage in the State the price of ration increased to Rs 13 per Kg.
“Ladakh being situated on border where nearly 99% of the people are Schedule Tribe, Hill Council should find a way out to provide subsidy but the Council miserably failed”, said Samphel.
Likewise, former CEC, Rigzin Spalbar also expressed his concern over people facing problems due to NFSA in Ladakh. He said that DCC Leh strongly condemned the barbaric decision of PDP-BJP coalition Government in the State to raise the rate of rice from Rs 3 to Rs 15 per Kg and atta from Rs 2 to Rs 13 per Kg per soul with effect from 1st of October 2016 under NFSA as well as under Mufti Mohd Sayeed Entitlement Scheme.
“What the people were given assurance as Achay Din by Shri Narendra Modi during election campaign 2014 turned out as Buray Din today particularly for the people of Ladakh”, former CEC said.
He said that there could have been special sympathetic consideration for the people of Ladakh due to its harsh topographical condition, strategical importance and 99% tribal population, had the LAHDC Leh moved the Government at Central and State level where BJP is at the helm of affairs, as such, the LAHDC Leh is fully responsible for the miseries of the people.
