BJP felicitates Savita Gupta, Jagdish Mukhi, others

State BJP leaders felicitating Savita Gupta at Jammu on Saturday.
JAMMU, Oct 27: The daughter of Jammu and newly elected Mayor of South Delhi, Savita Gupta was felicitated by State BJP along with party Prabhari Jagdish Raj Mukhi at a function here today.
A large number of BJP leaders and activists attended the function. Both Mrs Gupta, Mr Muklhi and other party leaders form Delhi were felicitated by BJP State chief Shamsher Singh Manhas on behalf of party.
While expressing her gratitude to the State unit of the party, Mrs Gupta said that it is indeed a day of joy for her as she has been given tumultuous welcome by the party here. “I have no words to explain that how much delighted I am by receiving such a love and affection from the people here”, she added.
Recalling her association with Jammu her birth place, she said she can’t forget the people of Jammu, her friends and neighbors here.
She said BJP is solidly behind the people of J&K. Every effort will be made by the party High Command to strengthen the party in the State. She expressed the hope that the day will not be far away when BJP will be in power in this border state also.
She said one has to strive hard for success in life and political field is not any exception. She complimented her in-laws especially her husband Ashwani Gupta for the cooperation and support rendered by him to her.
BJP leader and brother of Savita Gupta, Arvind Gupta was also present in the function.
Speaking on the occasion Prof Jagdish Mukhi said it is matter of pride for the people Jammu that a daughter of the soil has been elected Mayor of South Delhi. He said it was her simplicity, zeal, dedication, commitment towards party cause and impartial role that led her in taking a lead from others. He also recalled her role as councilor of DMC during first two terms.
Speaking on the occasion Shamsher Singh Manhas said Savita Gupta belongs to a family which had migrated from Kotli Mirpur to Jammu in 1947 partition. Her family and hundreds of other families had to struggle hard for survival after getting uprooted from PoK. These people worked hard to carve out a niche in the society and live a prestigious and dignified life, she added.
BJP State vice president, Suresh Jamwal, district president Rajesh Gupta and Mahila Morcha State president Sakina Bano also spoke on the occasion. The proceedings of the function were conducted by State general secretary, Usha Choudhary and BJP Mahila Morcha State general secretary Priya Seti presented vote of thanks.
