JAMMU, May 21: Jammu & Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said that terrorism and terror funding in Kashmir can only be checked by effective prosecutions and convictions of the culprits.
While commenting over the decision of Delhi Court in convicting J&K Liberation Front , chief, Yasin Malik in a case of terror funding, said conviction will go long way in establishing that crime never pays and will be a lesson to the enemies of India that there may be delay but ultimately the justice will be delivered.
Sunil Sethi said that this is only one conviction which has come against Yasin Malik but there are many more cases pending against him and his associates. The victims of the crimes committed by him and on his instigations are waiting for the justice to be delivered to them also challan which is pending in the court with regard to killing of Indian Air Force officers should also be expedited so that the justice is delivered without delay in that case as it has already taken more than 30 years in the said trial.
He further said that terrorism and terror funding in Kashmir can only be checked by effective prosecutions and convictions of the culprits. Delay in such cases is detrimental to justice. In the insistent case the conviction has come after confession of Yasin Malik recorded voluntarily in a court of law is an indicator that there is realization with the criminals also that their crime will catch them up and they cannot escape justice.
While welcoming the decision of conviction of Yasin Malik, the chief spokesperson also noted with concern the access which Yasin Malik had to the high officials including that of Prime Minister of the country even when he was facing serious charges against him including multiple murders. He urged the Government to investigate these matters also, as also the fact as to how a person involved in such serious offences was given access to the Constitutional officers. There is a need of identifying the person involved as it is a question of restoring the faith of the common men in the criminal delivery system. Such person should also be brought to the book as early as possible.
