JAMMU, June 20: BJP demanded judicial inquiry into the unfortunate deaths of two COVID-19 negative persons along with a COVID-19 positive patient two days back.
Talking to reporters here, today J&K BJP general secretary, Adv. Vibodh Gupta (former MLC) along with the party spokesperson, Girdhari Lal Raina and Surinder Ambardar (both former MLCs) termed the whole incident as the failure of the administration and demanded strict action against the officials involved in the negligence.
Adv. Vibodh Gupta, said that a COVID positive person with travel history, died but the two more persons who were COVID-19 negative were killed due to the administrative failure. He said that for the cremation, the dead body along with two COVID-19 negative persons was rotated from one cremation ground to another and then taken to an isolated Cremation Ground with zero facility through a deplorable route. The responsibility for final rites was put on shoulders of those two persons, who were provided PPE kits but were totally ignorant of the required essential procedures, the added.
He said even the firewood for the purpose was not provided and everything was done by the relatives, which was actually to be done by trained persons.
No body offered even water to a person for five hours, which is inhumane. Even their relatives had to protest to take the dead bodies of the deceased back even after they have been tested negative. And now a Committee is framed with ADC as its head who is the main culprit behind the whole unfortunate episode, Vibodh said.
Vibodh said that local administration is nowhere near the solutions in the associated issues. There is no notification publicized regarding cremation ground for the positive patients.
“We demand the Inquiry Committee which is impartial in nature”, Vibodh said and added that Immediate FIR must be there. He said that a detailed judicial inquiry is needed in the issue and responsible persons must be suspended. FIR must be lodged and the judicial level inquiry must be done. Ex -gratia of minimum 15 lakhs must be given at once.
Ambardar also took the administration by the horns over the issue and said that the families have been left with nowhere to go now. He alleged that the district administration did not approach the families of those involved properly and as such it must take immediate steps to provide relief to the families. “We demand compensation to the families involved and strict lesson to those whose negligence caused the whole unfortunate incident”, he added.
