‘BJP forged, strengthened Opposition unity’: Omar

SRINAGAR :  National Conference President Omar Abdullah today said suspension of 25 Congress MPs from Parliament for five days has helped Opposition to unite and get strengthened.
In a tweet, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said “Excellent job done by the BJP to forge & strengthen opposition unity. Even more remarkable is them doing it while in government.”
Majority of Opposition parties in the Lok Sabha are protesting demanding resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the Lalitgate issue and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh (MP) Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the Vyapam scam.
The Opposition parties which disrupted the Lok Sabha proceedings and did not allow the House to function since the day one of Monsoon session, are demanding a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.     However, yesterday, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan suspended 25 Congress party MPs for five days after they stormed into the Well of the House and did not allow any proceedings.
This has however united the entire Opposition who have expressed solidarity with the suspended members and announced not to join the proceedings of the House.
The Congress members have also decided to stage a dharna in Parliament today against the suspension of 25 party members. (AGENCIES)
