UDHAMPUR, Jan 1 : Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was a “dream of Mahatma Gandhi” and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah have taken this historic decision to get Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) passed to fulfill dream of Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
This was stated by former Minister and spokesperson, BJP Priya Sethi in a party meeting here today held in connection with party’s campaign in support of CAA.
Priya Sethi, while explaining the benefits of CAA said that Mahatma Gandhi on September 26, 1947 openly said that the minorities (Hindus and Sikhs) living in Pakistan can come to India any time if they do not want to reside there. It is the duty of the GOI to give them jobs to live a normal life.
“So wasn’t this his dream to help the minorities of the neighbouring countries if persecuted there”, she asked?.
She added that it was first PM of country Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru too who promised to help persecuted minorities and Congress also granted citizenship rights during their rule but when BJP did it they are dubbed to be communal as Congress is carrying out a misleading campaign against the Act and a campaign is being carried out in the country to create fear in the minds of Muslims for their political gains.
Among others present included district president, Puran Chand, (org) secretary, Vipin Ji, CMC Dr. Yogesh Gupta, BDCs Balwan, Arti Sharma and others.
