BJP Govt makes life difficult for Kashmiris: Mufti

SRINAGAR, Nov 23: Peoples Democratic Party president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said that the ruling BJP led Government has made life of people in Kashmir difficult in the name of militancy.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a party rally, Mufti said arrests are being made on a daily basis, monitoring and surveillance continues while none is allowed to talk.
“The lives of youth have been made hell in the name of militancy, with frequent arrests. People are unable to talk, and I don’t understand why, if they are saying that the situation is normal, our soldiers are still being martyred,” she added.
“Yesterday, four soldiers were martyred. On one hand, the BJP claims that the situation is alright in Kashmir and that militancy has ended. On the other hand, soldiers are getting martyred,” she said.
On a query, Mufti said that Jamat-e-Islami works for the welfare of the people and runs low cost education to people.

“I believe that Jamat-e-Islami has endured a lot of hardships. The JeI is an organisation that works for the welfare of the people. They run schools and provide education at a low cost. When Mufti Sahab became the Chief Minister for the first time, I understood that JeI members were homeless. We not only tried for JeI but also for other people who were detached from their homes to return and live their lives with dignity,” she added.
“I do not understand why today’s A or B team organizations have an issue with the JeI. Their properties have been frozen, and schools have closed. Now, they are left with self-respect only, and they want to destroy that as well,” she said.
Regarding terminating employees, Mufti said that right from the day the LG rule came to power here in 2019, more people were terminated from their services rather than recruited without following any legal course.
“Neither law nor court is being sought in such cases. They themselves become the lawyers and judges and give verdicts themselves. They do not understand how many hardships they have faced in getting employment. They have a family and children. I think it is a collective punishment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially for Kashmir, and they think Kashmiris are their enemies,” she said.
Regarding the statement that has come from Rajouri regarding Sheikh Abdullah, Mufti said: “We do not agree with the statement. Sheikh Abdullah has been the tallest leader, and anyone who talks against him, we do not agree with”.
On banning Halal label, the former Chief Minister said that the BJP politics revolves around things like Hijab and Halal.
“They have nothing else to offer people. They failed to provide the promised 2-crore jobs or deposit Rs 15 lakh. They plunged the poor further below the poverty line. They have nothing to give to the people and are trying to occupy people with these things,” she said.
