DODA, Apr 25: Former Union Health Minister and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that BJP led Government at the Centre has no policy on Kashmir and a definite policy to deal with Pakistan.
Addressing large public meetings at Gandoh, Bhatiyas and Malikpura in district Doda today, the top AICC leader said that Modi Government seems to have no policy on Kashmir and a definite policy to deal with Pakistan. The situation in Kashmir has  gone from bad to worse but the top BJP leadership at the Centre is unable to understand the gravity of the situation and take appropriate measures.
“They seems to be confused and experimenting on Kashmir. It is very sensitive issue and the Modi Government has to realize this fact. Abusing Kashmiris and using bullets and force on them is no solution. This Government needs to have a clear cut policy on Kashmir,” the AICC leader maintained.
Referring to the incidents of continuous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control in J&K and increasing incidents of militancy and abetting terrorism by Pakistan in Valley, Azad said again, “Modi Govt do not have any definite policy to deal with Pakistan. It has virtually failed to take appropriate measures to deal with the neighbouring country”.
The BJP has made the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as poll campaign machine. He campaigns throughout the year; some times in UP, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Goa. He has no time to discuss Kashmir or Pakistan  and take decisions on the burning issues, Azad added.
“Even Atal Behari Vajpayee led NDA Governemnt had clear policy on Kashmir and Pakistan, but Modi Govt has no vision or a policy on Kashmir and Pakistan. This Govt has shut its eyes towards what’s happening in Kashmir and on the J&K borders. Governance is not visible on the ground in the State. Kashmir is boiling with rage and ineffective Government is just watching the situation helplessly,” Azad said.
He further lashed out at PDP-BJP Govt for blaming people for the current volatile situation in the Valley. He said  instead of feeling remorse over the reign of terror and repression, it has been using force on the people in Kashmir.”
He wondered at the “brazen attempts” of Chief Minster   and other Cabinet Ministers  to “downplay the bloodshed and atrocities” being committed upon the people, saying that killings, blinding and maiming of youth is unparallel in the history of Kashmir.”
“What Kashmiris underwent in 2016 or are facing now,  is beyond comprehension and expression”, Azad said adding that “PDP- BJP  has pushed Kashmiri youth to the wall.”
He said the “anti-people policies of the PDP-BJP dispensation have brought Kashmir at the volatile crossroads of history where nothing is visible except uncertainty, fear and harassment.”
“The scenario across the Valley is so grim that the people are apprehensive about their safety with economic activity and development coming to grinding halt”, he said, adding that the spree of arrests has further vitiated the atmosphere.
He said the current “insensitive dispensation” has exposed people to administrative inertia, as a result of which they were suffering on all fronts.
He asked the PDP as to what had happened to “lofty promises of jobs for youth.
Azad said the promises made by the PDP during 2014 Parliamentary and Assembly elections, as also while forming the Government in coalition with BJP have proved hoax.
“Those promises were just to hoodwink public opinion, as the PDP was never sincere to what it committed to the people,” he said.
During his  three day tour to Doda, Bhalesa and Bhaderwah belt, Azad today visited the fire-sufferers of far-off areas of Bhalesa, Batyas, Changa and Gandoh of district Doda and announced various relief measures for the rehabilitation and welfare of the victims.
He also took stock of the extensive damage caused by the devastating blaze in this remote area. He said in one year six such incidents of fire took place in this area. He termed it as sabotage and demanded impartial probe into it. He alleged that there was two day BJP executive meet at Doda but not even a single  BJP MLA, Minister or MP visited these fire victims.
MLA Inderwal,  GM Saroori,  Naresh Gupta MLC from Bhaderwah, former Ministers Mohd Sharief Niaz and Abdul  Majid Wani besides Nadeem Sharif  Niaz accompanied Azad   on his  visit to the area.
At least 120  families have been affected due to the continuous fire incidents  at Bhalesa in which 80 residential houses and an equal number of  shops and other structures including shops and some Govt buildings have been gutted.
Azad assured the affected villagers of all possible support  for their welfare and rehabilitation.
Azad visited Batyas, Gandoh  Changa  areas of Gandoh and Bhalesa to express solidarity with people whose commercial and residential buildings were gutted in a devastating fire recently.
“Taking stock of the devastation caused by the fire, Azad was informed by people there about the details of the destruction caused by this. At this juncture, Azad expressed his deep sympathies with the victims of the fire and assured them of every possible help within the capacity of MPLAD,”.
Meanwhile, Azad  inaugurated new Dak Bunglow at Gandoh, in  Bhalesa area of Doda, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore.
