JAMMU/NEW DELHI, Sept 25: The BJP National Executive (NE) today adopted a political resolution which lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Government for showing no mercy to terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir but at the same time ensuring that common man didn’t suffer, highlighting terrorism and exposing Pakistan globally (for the neighbour’s support to terror).
The political resolution, moved by BJP national general secretary Bhupinder Yadav and seconded by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi at the National Executive in the Union capital today, referred to terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and steps taken by the Centre to restore peace and normalcy in the Kashmir valley.
“The Centre has performed remarkable balancing act by showing no mercy to terrorists and simultaneously displaying sensitivity towards the common man, being used and exploited by the terrorists, by ensuring that they don’t suffer,” the resolution adopted at the National Executive, which was attended among others by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah, said.
It lauded the success achieved by the Government in its action against terrorists and separatists.
The political resolution said Narendra Modi Government has achieved major success in highlighting terrorism, being fanned by Pakistan, across the world.
“This has exposed Pakistan globally,” it added.
The resolution hailed Modi for handling Doklam issue with China successfully.
Troops of India and China had withdrawn simultaneously from Doklam at tri-junction between India, China and Bhutan in Sikkim after about three month standoff.
Referring to controversy over influx of Rohingyas into the country including Jammu and Kashmir, the political resolution said that there can be no compromise with security of the country, an indication that the BJP openly endorsed stand taken by the Union Home Ministry in the Supreme Court that Rohingyas were a threat to national security, had links with terrorists and were required to be deported to Myanmar.
However, the resolution appreciated the humanitarian gesture by the Indian Government in extending aid to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
Party sources said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his speech, also referred to foreign diplomacy yielding good results on anti-terrorism front.
“The foreign countries are now giving us significant information pertaining to the terrorists within the country and abroad. Many countries have repatriated to us the wanted terrorists, which is quite significant,” he is reported to have said in his address.
Modi reportedly said that some countries have also given information over presence of terrorists, leading to successful operations.
BJP president Amit Shah, in his address, reportedly referred to historic joint statement issued by BRICS nations in China naming Pakistani militant outfits Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) as terrorist outfits.
Shah also described end of three-month long Doklam standoff as major success of Modi Government.
The political resolution referred to Rs 80,000 crores worth Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) to Jammu and Kashmir which included two All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), IIMs, IITs, five Government Medical Colleges, Engineering College etc.
Soon after the BJP National Council, BJP president Amit Shah, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, MoS in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh and BJP general secretary, Incharge Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Madhav held a crucial meeting to discuss various issues including security situation, party affairs and other policy matters.
“The meeting was not confined to Jammu and Kashmir but discussed certain significant issues,” sources said.
Sources said BJP State president Sat Sharma `CA’, in his address on political resolution, lauded the bravery of all security personnel, operating in the State, for showing courage and brave in anti-militancy operations as well as fighting with Pakistan during ceasefire violations.
Maintaining that both State and Central Governments have succeeded in breaking the back of terrorists and anti -national forces in Kashmir valley, BJP national general secretary, Ram Madhav today said that main objective of Narendra Modi led Government was to end the violence and restore peace and normalcy in trouble-torn State in general and Kashmir Valley in particular.
Madhav, who was addressing the National Executive of BJP, said from the Day one when the BJP led NDA Government came to power in May 2014 “our main focus remained to restore the pace and normalcy in the State  and in this regard many steps were taken from time to time”.
He said the restoration of peace was not possible till terrorism is completely wiped out and, therefore, the policy was adopted to chase the terrorists to finish and  this gave desired results now as the backone of terrorists has been completely broken after their top leaders were eliminated by the security forces. “The terrorists have been totally exposed and isolated now as they are losing the ground and feel demoralized because there is no one to lead them.”
Madhav said the policy to chase the terrorists to finish coupled with raids of National Investigating Agency (NIA) on separatist leaders and ultras has succeeded in achieving the desired results in Kashmir Valley now and the common man also feels relaxed as they were made hostage by terrorists over the decades.
He said the Government by conducting the NIA raids not only succeeded in identifying the separatist leaders receiving funds through Hawala and other agencies but also exposing and unmasking them in the people. After the raids, cases have been registered against separatists and others and they will also be interrogated to know about the source of money received by them and motive of the funding.
The BJP leader said after Government succeeds in its mission of restoring complete peace and normalcy in the trouble -torn Valley on which it has fully concentrated both State and Central governments will thrust on its developmental agenda for all three regions of the State.
PTI adds from New Delhi:-
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today underlined his resolve to fight corruption, saying his battle against it is “uncompromising” and no one will be spared.
In his address to the extended national executive of the BJP, Modi said he has no relatives and took a jibe at the opposition, maintaining that power was a means of enjoyment for them when they were in power.
Modi also told the meeting that the opposition’s harsh words cannot be substitute for any substantive charge against the Government.
His comments at the closed-door meeting were shared with the media by senior party leader Arun Jaitley.
Modi asked close to 2,000 BJP leaders, which included 13 chief ministers, six deputy chief ministers, over 60 union ministers besides party’s MPs and MLAs among others, to take the party beyond elections and make it an instrument of mass participation to improve quality of people’s lives.
Earlier, the party adopted a six-point agenda to rid the country of poverty, terrorism, casteism, communalism and corruption.
“My battle against corruption is uncompromising. Anyone caught indulging in corruption will not be spared. I have no relatives,” the Prime Minister was quoted as saying by Jaitley.
According to the Union Minister, the Prime Minister also told the meeting when opposition was in Government, power was a means of enjoyment for it. “Now they do not know how to behave as opposition,” Modi said.
During his address, Modi also talked about his Government’s relentless fight against terrorism, including bringing back 90 terrorists from abroad, several welfare initiatives for the poor and the farmer.
Modi asserted that today people in the country are looking towards BJP for their future which was the central point of hopes and ambitions of the people in the country.
“BJP should not restrict itself to conventional politics of contesting and winning elections. The democracy should be seen beyond elections. The party should work for increasing mass participation in democracy. We should take BJP beyond elections and make it a instrument of mass participation to improve quality of life of the people,” Modi was quoted as saying by Jaitley.
Prime Minister also referred to initiatives such as Swachh Bharat and said due to mass participation it has become a movement of public welfare. Modi also asked party’s leaders to become a link between people’s problems and Government.
“The main point of Prime Minister Modi’s speech was that we should make the BJP an instrument of mass participation to improve people’s quality of life,” Jaitley said.
Taking a dig at opposition parties, Modi said their use of harsh language cannot be a substitute for substantive charges against the Government.
BJP chief Amit Shah said his party believed in “politics of performance” while the Congress banked on dynasty and appeasement, expressing confidence of a “historic” win in the upcoming Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly polls.
In his inaugural address at the BJP national executive, he also targeted the TMC-ruled West Bengal and the Left-ruled Kerala Governments, saying democracy was being “throttled” in the two states as he highlighted cases of violence against his party’s workers there.
Shah also lauded the Government’s handling of economy, saying the average growth rate had been more than seven per cent in the last years while it was 4.7 per cent in 2013-14 under the UPA.
He described demonetisation, which has been blamed for the current economic slowdown by the opposition, as a “severe attack” on black money as he hit back at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for his attack on the Government.
“Rahul Gandhi goes abroad and asks what are the achievements of the Modi Government? Rahul ji, you will tire of counting its achievements. The biggest success is that we have given an honest and scam-free Government against that of the UPA which was involved in scams of Rs 12 lakh crore,” he said.
“If some people believe that they can use violence to stop the BJP’s growth, then they are mistaken. The more they throw the mud of violence at the BJP, the more quickly the lotus (BJP’s symbol) will bloom,” he said, according to a party statement.
Referring to violence against his party’s workers in Kerala, he announced a 15-day ‘pad yatra’ (foot march) in the State from October 3.
He also announced a run for unity by BJP workers on October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
The BJP chief asked party leaders to work relentlessly to achieve six goals- getting India rid of litter, corruption, poverty, corruption, casteism, communalism and terrorism- to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a new India by 2022.
Modi has shown how a transparent, decisive, sensitive and people-oriented Government works, he said, claiming it has done more in three years of its rule than the UPA did in its 10 years.
Taking a jibe at the Congress following Rahul Gandhi’s defence of dynasty, Shah said dynasticism has become Congress’ nature but it can never be India’s nature.
Under Modi’s leadership, the BJP had ended politics of dynasty, casteism and appeasement, and had started politics of performance, he said, according to the statement.
Shah said President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Modi reached their position due to their work, despite their humble origins.
Attacking the Congress over its opposition in Parliament to a bill which sought to accord constitutional status to the OBC commission, he said the opposition party had shown that it does not respect the backward castes but the BJP is determined to pass the legislation.
In a reference to the practice of triple talaq, abolished by the Supreme Court in a recent verdict, Shah hailed the Government’s stand which, he said, helped Muslim women get justice.
Highlighting the Government’s economic successes, Shah said interest rate has been brought down to 6 per cent against 12 per cent in the UPA, inflation is 4.5 per cent against 9.3 per cent in the UPA and forex reserve had crossed USD 400 for the
The Rs 60,000 crore per year the Government would save through the direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme would be used for welfare schemes for the poor, he said. (PTI)
