KATHUA, Apr 19: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee working president Raman Bhalla today led impressive Jai Bharat Satyagraha March in Kathua district.
The march was foiled by huge contingent of Police at Parshuram Chowk near DC Office where minor scuffle took place with Police personnel. The protesters however observed Dharna at the Chowk and main road remained blocked for over an hour to draw attention of govt towards grave issues of public which so far remained largely unaddressed under BJP rule.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that all sections of the society are suffering under BJP Government and all promises made by BJP have turned out to be hollow. He said, before Parliamentary elections, BJP had assured the people truckloads of financial help on coming to power but instead the NDA government has squeezed the existing resources in J&K.
“Union Government has failed in its hour of need,” he claimed adding, the government has been clueless about controlling rising inflation, proved incompetent in handling economy and remained insensitive in dealing humanitarian crisis.
The Congress leader said BJP has failed to address political and developmental aspirations of the people in J&K. He stated, while various projects are starving for funds, the payments under MGNREGA remain unpaid. “Similarly, the problems of daily rated workers and other segments of employees are yet to be sorted out,” Bhalla maintained.
He alleged that the insensitive government has failed to release salaries and wages to employees. The BJP government has left no stone unturned to destroy the democratic institutions and the country needs fair and strong constitutional institutions.
Pankaj Dogra while speaking on the occasion said that Congress is the only alternative available to the people in J&K and now the public has made up mind to bring back Congress to power. The people of Jammu have experienced that BJP has cheated them on different emotional slogans and false promises only to achieve power but back-tracked on all those issues for the sake of power.
Prominent among those present on the occasion includes Nirdosh Sharma, Paramjit Singh, Kajal Rajput, Pawan Sharma, Ravinder Pal Singh, Tarsem Saini, Narinder Khajuria, Satpaul Bhandari, Yog Raj, Kulbushan Sharma, Subash Chander, Arun Mehta and others.
