JAMMU, Nov 26:  The statement of former Chief Minister and NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah that former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and his Pakistani counterpart had reached a solution on Kashmir issue evoked strong resentment from BJP and other parties who termed the outburst of NC leader totally misleading.
BJP Jammu West district activists under the leadership of district president Ayodhya Gupta, held a strong protest and also burnt the effigy of National Conference (NC) patron & Ex-CM, Dr. Farooq Abdullah at Kachi Chawni Chowk here.
Ayodhya Gupta, while addressing the party activists said “probably Farooq Abdullah is deliberately raking up the settled issue in order to remain in news for his political survival”.
He said that the then Maharaja, while signing the Instrument of Accession, had acceded the whole of Jammu and Kashmir under his control as part of Indian Union.
Ayodhya said that father of Farooq Abdullah late Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah, had endorsed the accession of J&K State with India and Farooq Abdullah is now going against his own father.
Ayodhya Gupta said that if NC leaders have that much love for Pakistan, they should leave India, settle in Pakistan and contest elections there and run their political shops.
Farooq Abdullah by his uncalled for statement has acted against the settled issue which reflect as to how much committed he is for the interest of the nation and his statement is highly condemnable.
Gupta asked Farooq Abdullah to seek an apology from the nation for this blunder and set the things right. “It looks that the leaders of National Conference have been so much demoralized and frustrated that they have lost their wit and so they are giving such irresponsible statements”, he added.
BJP district Unit held a protest demonstration at Undhampur against Dr Abdullah. The protest was led by Party general secretary Pawan Khajuria.
The protest was held at Salian Talab. The protesters raising slogans against NC and Dr Abdullah also torched the effigy of NC chief.
Speaking on the occasion Khajuria said J&K including PoK is integral part of India. Terming statement of Dr Abdullah unfortunate, he said it was not tolerable. He said NC and Dr Abdullah are notorious for making controversial statements and it has been the habit of the Party leaders since long. He said when Abdullah’s are in power they swear for nationalism and when in opposition they dance to the tune of separatists.
Another protest was held by BJP at Doda under the leadership of Party Prabhari and senior leader Munish Sharma. A large number of BJP activists attended the protest and took out a procession in the town which was organised by district president of the Party Manjeet Razdhan.
Addressing the protesters both Munish Sharma and Manjeet Razdhan criticised Dr Farooq Abdullah and accused him of misleading the people by such irresponsible statements.
They also rejected grant of pre 1953 status to the State and said that the needles of clock can’t be reversed.
The protesters also torched the effigy of Dr Abdullah and asked him to refrain from making such statements which are inimical to national interests.
Shiv Sena Bala Sahib Thackery today strongly criticised the statement of Dr Abdullah and demanded stern action against him.
The Sena has also made an appeal to Central Government in this regard. Sena chief Dimpy Kohli said with the signing of papers of instrument of accession J&K has become integral part of India and may be Dr Abdullah is deliberately raking up the issue in order to remain in the news.
He said if Dr Abdullah likes Pakistan more than India, he is free to live there along with his friends.
BJP State general secretary, Minority Morcha S Gurdyal Singh Bali has also criticised the statement of Dr Farooq Abdullah and termed it very unfortunate.
BJP activists also held protest demonstrations at Samba and Vijaypur against Dr Abdullah and torched his effigies. A large number of BJP activists led by Jangvir Singh alias Cheeku held demonstration at Samba Chowk and shouted slogans against the NC leader. They also torched his effigy and demanded action against him.
At Vijaypur the demonstration was held by Mandal president Som Nath Verma. The protesters besides torching the effigy of Dr Abdullah accused him of creating a confusion in the minds of people of the State and country.
The protests were also held at R S Pura, Akhnoor and Jammu Rural district by the BJP activists. In Jammu Rural the protest was led by district president Omi Khajuria.
