Jammu, Feb 25: A sammelan was held at village Marh today by the Akhnoor District unit of the party to felicitate BJP State President & MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma on his assumption of office of the State president.
The public function was attended by more than 3000 persons which included most of the local Panchs and Sarpanchs as also workers of the party. Jugal Kishore Sharma was chief guest and Ashok Khajuria, Sukhnandan Kumar and Ch. Sham were guests of honour on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that BJP is fully cognizant of the problems of the displaced people who got uprooted in 1965 and 71 war and the general problems faced by the public of the border areas. He said that BJP is always raising the demands of the border displaced people in Assembly as well as outside it.
Expressing his full sympathy and concern for the suffering of these people for no fault of theirs, he said that these people need healing touch and rehabilitation schemes which unfortunately the State Government is instead implementing for militants and terrorists in its misguided ideas of governance and compassion. He further added that the BJP is going to raise the demand for abrogation of Article-370 in Parliament.
Ashok Khajuria lambasted the administration for being utterly incompetent and corruption being its hallmark.
MLA Marh Sukhnandan Kumar in his address at the sammelan, highlighted the problems faced by the farmers of Jammu on account of discriminatory attitude of the Government. He demanded cleaning up of Irrigation Canals, establishment of sabzi mandi at Udhaywala to facilitate the marketing of produce by the farmers directly to the consumers.
