JAMMU, Mar 19: BJP Kashmir Displaced District (KDD) president Rajiv Pandita held a detailed meeting with Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Dr Arvind Karwani to discuss several pressing issues affecting the displaced Kashmiri Pandit (KP) community.
One of the primary concerns raised was the delay in issuing migration certificates to KP children for educational purposes. Many parents had reported that with the last date for form submission approaching, they had yet to receive the required documents, particularly those who are not registered with the Relief Organization.
Dr Karwani directed officials to clear the backlog within three days and further instructed that for unregistered KPs, the process be made simple and hassle-free. They will only need to submit a declaration affidavit stating the requirement of the certificate for education purposes, along with a domicile certificate.
Another major issue discussed was the allotment of shops to shopkeepers of Muthi TRT, whose shops were demolished by JDA in October. The Relief Commissioner assured that the allotment process will begin in the first week of April, with priority given to the affected shopkeepers.
The concerns surrounding NAFSA were also discussed in the meeting. Rajiv Pandita conveyed the genuine apprehensions of some community members regarding the same. Dr Karwani assured that the form is intended solely for the betterment of the community.
The issue of sanitation at Jagti Township and Muthi TRT was raised, highlighting the urgent need to increase sanitation staff under the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). The Commissioner acknowledged the concern and assured appropriate action to improve hygiene conditions in these areas.
Additionally, the delay in the allotment of transit accommodation flats for PM Package employees in Kashmir was discussed. Dr Karwani assured that the allotment at Vessu and Zewan will be completed in a transparent manner in the coming months.
Several other key concerns of the KP community were brought to the Commissioner’s attention, with assurances of timely redressal.
