BJP launches membership drive, Party targets to enroll over one lakh people

JAMMU, June 15: As a part of nationwide exercise, the BJP started the membership drive of the party here today. The nationwide membership drive has been launched in view of the organizational elections the process of which will be completed by January next year with the election of its national president.
According to a party spokesman three tier election process will begin soon after the completion of membership drive and in the first instance the election of Mandal presidents followed by district and state president will be held.
He said the membership drive has been also launched keeping in view 2014 elections to Parliament and State Assembly.
The party simultaneously launched membership drive at five places in Jammu district today. The membership drive of Janipur Mandal was held at Rehari under the leadership of Party general secretary (organizational) Ashok Kaul. On the occasion party general secretaries Sat Sharma (CA) and Usha Choudhary were also present.
Mr Kaul said that to broaden the base of the Party in the State it has been decided to enroll over one-lakh members during this drive, which will last for over a month.
BJP National Executive Member and J&K State chief spokesperson, Dr Jitendra Singh launched the membership drive of the Party from Gandhi Nagar “Mandal”. Dr Jitendra Singh started the drive by personally visiting several houses in Sector 43 of Nanak Nagar area and enrolling household members into the party fold by handing over membership receipts to them. He was accompanied by prominent BJP leaders of the area including Vikram Randhawa, Arun Khosla, Pappu Choudhary, Tarsem Choudhary, Hardesh Kumar, Bhushan Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Sunil and others.
BJP MLA Ashok Khajuria led the Party in launching the membership drive in Jammu East. He was accompanied by district president Rajesh Gupta and other leaders of the area. The membership drive of Satwari Mandal was led by senior leader of the Party Suresh Jamwal who was accompanied by other leaders of the area also.
The membership drive of Talab Tilloo Mandal was launched from Shakti Nagar and BJP leaders visited various households for enrolling the people into the party fold.
