JAMMU, June 25: As a part of the party’s nation-wide Uttrakhand relief campaign and follow up of the directions of BJP National president Rajnath Singh to suspend the Jail Bharo Andolan and instead divert all the energy and time of the party workers to collect relief both in terms of material and cash in the name of Bharatiya Janata Party Calamity Relief Fund, J&K Unit of BJP under its State President Jugal Kishore Sharma launched the relief collection here today with the first day collection amounting to Rs 1 lakh in the forms of cheques as well as cash.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the Uttrakhand tragedy is unprecedented and it is the duty of every human being to contribute for the relief of victims depending on his or her capacity. He said that it is a calamity which can happen anywhere and therefore everybody should feel the pain of the people who have been going through the suffering. He said that the relief can be sent in the form of materials like clothing, food items etc. and also in the form of cash for which an official receipt will be duly issued by the BJP headquarters, New Delhi.
Meanwhile, Chander Prakash Ganga, who has been appointed by State President as Convenor of the Relief Committee, said that such a relief collection programme will be held at each district and Mandal level till July 5. He appealed the party activists to even approach their relatives and friends for this noble cause.
Dr Jitendra Singh, Vibodh Gupta, Bali Bhagat, Kavinder Gupta, Sat Sharma (C.A), Bansi Lal Bharti, Charanjit Singh Khasla, Mamta Singh, Chander Mohan Gupta, Ghulam Ali Khatana, Sanjiv Sharma, Balbir Ram Rattan, Ashok Kumar, Arun Chhibber, Aseem Gupta, Rajinder Sharma, Naresh Dogra, Rajesh Gupta, Yudhvir Sethi, N D Rajwal, Anil Gupta, Munish Sharma, Kashmira Singh, Kuldeep Sharma, Vikram Randhawa, Sanjay Baru, Sat Pal Choudhary, Praduman Singh, Tarseem Choudhary, Vijay Choudhary, Kuldeep Kandhari, Ajay Vaid and others took part in the relief collection campaign on the first day.
