JAMMU, May 4: BJP spokesperson J&K, Advocate Abhinav Sharma has urged the Government to release the report submitted by the Enquiry Committee headed by R.K Goyal, Additional Chief Secretary Home, regarding illegalities in selection process of Firemen and Firemen Drivers.
Addressing a press conference here today Sharma said that advertisement for these posts was published in 2013 and in December 2022, the Government of J&K constituted an Enquiry Committee, headed by R.K Goyal along with Secretary GAD and Secretary Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
He said that the Committee was given a month time to investigate violations in selection process for the posts and submit report within that period.
“Unfortunately, the Enquiry Committee took one year and submitted its report in December 2023,” the BJP leader maintained adding that qualification for Firemen was eight standard and for Firemen Driver it was 8th pass with driving license of heavy goods vehicle and the last date of the submission of the application was April 18, 2013.
He said that the department came to know about illegalities after the conduct of physical endurance test and written test and therefore in 2016, the then Principal Secretary ordered to annul the entire process claiming that proxy candidates took part in the written exam and even mobile phones were used inside exam centres.
Sharma said that the selection process is also questionable because four successful candidates of a family from Budgam and 2 from a family of Pulwama have made it to the list thus raising doubts over genuineness of selection process.
He further raised a point that on October 3, 2020, the list of written examination was placed on the website but the same was not published in newspapers and on the very next day the appointment orders were issued asking the successful candidates to join within two days.
The BJP leader further alleged that the written test was conducted on September 21 but the question paper was available with the students on September 19 and many aspirants have the proof of the same and they are ready to give an affidavit in this regard.
He also mentioned that there were about 20 families in which 2 aspirants from each family were selected.
Sharma emphasized that nearly four months have passed since then the report was submitted by the Enquiry Committee, yet the Government has not made the report public, despite being aware of the questionable nature of the entire selection process.
He urged the Government to promptly release the report to the public domain without any further delay so that the people may know about the fact behind the irregularities in the selection process.
