KATHUA, June 15: BJP spokesperson, Dr. Abhijeet Jasrotia has demanded compensation and accelerated industrialization in the district.
At a press conference here today Jasrotia said that he submitted a detailed memorandum to DC Kathua containing demands.
He demanded compensation to Kathua and Kandi areas which have allegedly borne the brunt of Indus Water Treaty for the past three decades.
The BJP leader also demanded recognizing the sacrifices made by the people of Kathua and Kandi areas and compensating them properly.
Highlighting the critical need for job creation, Jasrotia called for rapid industrialization in Kathua.
He demanded a systematic approach to identify and penalize those aiding terrorist activities.
He further said that for a proposal for new gun licenses and renewal of the existing ones to empower the citizens of Kathua, the DC has assured that people with old licence should apply online.
Other demands by Jasrotia were creation of defence groups including retired army, police other personnel from forces.
BJP district president, Gopal Mahajan; Rajesh Mehta, Ravinder Slathia, Akshay Bharti and J.P Singh also spoke on the occasion.
