BJP leader seeks NIA probe into Cong leaders- Pak officials meeting

NEW DELHI:    Terming the meeting of senior Congress leaders with Pakistani officials as an “anti-national activity”, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Supreme Court advocate Ajay Agrawal has requested the National Investigative Agency (NIA) to register an FIR against the Congress leaders and others who attended the meeting.

In a letter to the NIA, the BJP leader said derogatory utterances of the senior Congress leader and former minister Mani Shankar Aiyar against the Prime Minister after the meeting was like inciting hatred towards an elected Government and as such the persons involved in the conspiracy should be booked under section 124 (a) of the Indian Penal Code (Sedition).

Agrawal, in his letter, has stated it appeared the meeting was held to destabilise the ruling government and affect the ongoing Gujarat Assembly elections as the very next day Congress leaders and the host of the meeting Mani Shankar Aiyar levelled ‘Neech Aadmi’ remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP leader had earlier claimed that a meeting took place on December 6 at Aiyar’s residence where former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former vice president Hamid Ansari, High Commissioner of Pakistan to India Sohail Mahmood, Khurshid Kasoori, Indian bureaucrats and other officials were present.

In his letter addressed to the NIA Director, the BJP leader said the ex- Prime Minister and the ex- Vice President of India are privy to the top secret information and they are duty bound not to share the content of the information with anyone.  (AGENCIES)
