KATHUA, June 27: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a meeting of its activists in a border village of Hiranagar tehsil today which was addressed by district president, of the party, Prem Nath Dogra and ex MLA, Kuldeep Kumar in which people were apprised of the various steps taken by the Government for the welfare and betterment of the border people especially those living on International Border (IB).
Addressing the meeting both Dogra and Kuldeep Kumar said that reservation for IB people was a long pending demand and successive Congress and NC Governments for their vote politics had ignored it despite the fact that IB people in Jammu region suffered lot of damage and destruction during Indo-Pak wars and cross border terrorism as well as border shelling from across in last three decades.
They highlighted the steps taken by the local MP and Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh for the welfare of IB people as well as Kathua –Udhampur Constituency saying that it was only due to his efforts that border people were given reservation at par with LoC people, besides many projects were taken up in hand to improve the facilities in the border belt.
They termed a great step of distribution of Set-top boxes among the border residents by GoI and cautioned the people against the malicious and vicious campaign launched by some people to mislead the masses.
They said that some people are making misleading statements that Jammu region has been ignored while distributing the set-top boxes and Kashmir was given preference without knowing that being the Summer Capital, the official function was to be launched from Srinagar and the people from border belt of Jammu were also invited to Summer Capital to receive the boxes.
They said that soon Dr Jitendra Singh will visit Jammu to distribute the set-top boxes among the border residents here whose main objective is that the Indian channels should be viewed in border belt so that people will not fall a prey to malicious campaign launched by Pak TV channels against India.
The two leaders took a strong dig at those who are making a malicious and vicious propaganda against the party and MP opposing the distribution of Set-top boxes from Srinagar just for the sake of criticism without knowing the basic facts.
