JAMMU, Mar 29: National Conference’s Provincial President of Women Wing, Satwant Kaur Dogra today lashed out at the BJP-led Government at the Centre over rising prices of fuel, alleging it was forcibly taking money from the pocket of people even in times of crises.
During a daylong campaign for the party’s membership drive in Akhnoor, Satwant Kaur listened to the grievances of the women, who apprised the NC leader of their day-to-day problems. They said that PMUY hasn’t been completely effective as poor households find it difficult to pay for and get regular LPG cylinder refills while the monthly budget for food and grocery, including staples, vegetables, fruits and dairy products, was a great concern due to steep price rise. They further raised their concerns on rising cost of education in English medium schools which remains a pain point for a middle-class family.
Speaking on the occasion, Satwant Kaur blamed the Government’s mismanagement for the collapse of the economy and said that the rising prices of cooking fuel, petrol, diesel, expensive groceries is a great concern for every household. She alleged that the Government is looting people of their hard-earned money by increasing the prices manifold and added that during the tenure of UPA Government, BJP leaders used to “make a lot of noise” over the issue of inflation but now they are conveniently silent.
Satwant said NC is not a mere political party, but a movement with well-defined political agenda and workers of the NC have withstood all challenges and proven their loyalty towards people and party. She exhorted women to strengthen National Conference at grass root level and maintain peace and harmony, saying this will be a befitting reply to those who want to divide the society on religious and regional lines.
The program was organised by District President of Women Wing, Kuldeep Kaur and District Presidents Daljeet Sharma while Rama Gupta, District Secretary Balwinder Kour, Block President Rekha Langeh, Provincial functionaries Asha Mehra, Pinki Bhat and Rekha Manhas accompanied the Provincial President.
