JAMMU, Sept 9: To ensure that the urgency and the criticality of the situation as also the human suffering on account of the calamitous floods is also reflected and responded to effectively by the administration, Jugal Kishore Sharma, State BJP President & MP, Ashok Khajuria, MLA Jammu East & Leader of Legislative party, Dr. Nirmal Singh, National Executive Member & State Ex-president, Shamsher Singh, State Ex-president, Farooq Khan, Former IGP and Retd. Brig. Anil Gupta met Divisional Commissioner of Jammu. They conveyed the anxiety and the anguish of the people whose kith and kin are held up and stranded due to floods in the Valley and elsewhere in Jammu region. They also put forth their suggestions to ameliorate the suffering of the people.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the people whose loved ones are stranded in the flood hit areas especially the Valley have been approaching BJP. He gave the list of the places where those people are located and are in the dire need of rescue. Sharma suggested that the Government should set up a separate communication centre which would be giving the names of the people who have been rescued and are now safely putting up at the established shelters, so that there kith and kin are freed from agonizing worries. Sharma also stated that road connectivity to the areas worst effected by the flash floods is still not restored, in this respect he mentioned the district Reasi, Doda, Poonch, Rajouri and other adjoining areas and also the Valley and demanded that the administration should also start restoring the road connectivity and only then can commence be real rescue and rehabilitation process. The people in the border areas have been worst sufferers and National Disaster Management teams should be dispatched to these areas also.
The Senior BJP leaders with one voice demanded that Government should supply free rations and other essential commodities to the victims of the floods and should also conduct survey through revenue Department to assess the loss and damage caused to the people so that effective and result oriented rehabilitation process is put in operation. The esteemed Divisional Commissioner assured the BJP leaders that no effort would be spared in rescue and rehabilitation of flood disaster victims.
