JAMMU, Dec 25: The BJP Government at centre always betrayed the people of Jammu and Kashmir by giving them hallow assurances; it is only the National Conference (NC), which always worked for the development of People here.
This was stated by the leaders of National Conference while addressing a meeting of party workers held here today.
The meeting was organised by Sardar Parvinder Singh Block President Gandhi Nagar, Chander Mohan Sharma District President Jammu Urban JKNC, Jammu, in which senior leaders of the party including Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Additional General Secretary of JKNC and Rattan Lal Gupta were the main speakers.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, accused the double engine Government for betraying the refugees of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly those from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
“The PoJK refugees have been feeling deceived. The commitment made to them by the BJP-led Central Government has not been fulfilled. Despite our Government under Omar Abdullah’s leadership identifying over 36,000 refugee families in Jammu and Kashmir, their plight remains unaddressed,” he said.
He also assured that if voted to power, the National Conference would strive to provide the remainder of the compensation to the refugees by engaging with the Centre.
Addressing the party workers, Rattan Lal Gupta called on the party’s workers to actively counter the misleading campaigns propagated by BJP leaders, emphasizing the growing unrest and chaos prevalent across the region which added to the turmoil.
He said that it is our duty as members of the National Conference to step up and counter these negative narratives with truth and integrity as the National Conference has always stood for the aspirations of our people.
He urged the party workers to engage directly with the public, and said, “Our role is not just to contest elections but to be the voice of the people.”
