JAMMU, Aug 13: Senior BJP leaders including Union Minister of State, in PMO with independent charge of NE States, Dr Jitendra Singh, State President & MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, National Vice-President & MP Avinash Rai Khanna, Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Thumpstan Chhewang and Rajya Sabha MP Shamsher Singh Manhas, called on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi today and submitted two separate memorandums to him.
The memorandum submitted by Thumpstan Chhewang to Prime Minister explained the havoc caused by incessant rains and instances of cloud bursts in Ladakh and demanded sanctioning of financial packages for two districts of Ladakh for relief and rehabilitation of the affected people as the authorities have not been able to compile the report regarding the losses and they are in process of the same. Besides, a separate financial package for Ladakh be included in the proposed package for Jammu and Kashmir.
The memorandum said that the State Government has not sanctioned any relief till date.
Another memorandum submitted by Jugal Kishore Sharma expressed concern over the plight of the people living on Jammu and Kashmir-Pakistan borders stating that these people suffer due to cross border firing, which resulted into loss to precious lives and standing crops, livestock, houses and injuries to innocent people.
The memorandum further said that although these border people suffer a lot, the studies of their children were effected still they do not migrate and work as brave soldiers against all odds. The BJP leaders through the memorandum demanded that a special recruitment drive by army and para military forces be started for absorption of the youth of border belt so that they can support their families.
